Interview with Pradeep Kumar
Q: Hi Pradeep thanks for spending your Precious time, My First question is how you start your blogging Professionally, and tell us the story behind Hellbound Bloggers Domain name?
Ans: I started HellBound Bloggers (HBB) when I entered my college life. By the love and interest in Blogging I gave much preference to Blogging than to Studies. So HBB smoothly ran without any issues. Before 2 months my college life was over, I had more time to focus on things I love. So I entered this field professionally. But I don’t think it made any change in me, Problogger or not, I still had the passion to run HBB.
I wanted a domain name that could represent bloggers and things they do. Inspired from various sources I finally decided ‘HellBound Bloggers’. I didn’t worry about SEO or any other stuff when I picked this domain name, and registered it without any second thoughts.
Q: As per your view, What things Indian Bloggers should Improve to Compete with World’s Top Bloggers?
Ans: Good Question mate. I can’t really find anything negative here, Indian Bloggers are awesome like others. But being in India we lack access to various International stuffs, I think that’s a pretty big disadvantage for bloggers here, especially those who blog in Technology and Gadgets category.
You can take iPhone 5 hands-on review for example, Indian Bloggers need to struggle to get their hands on them. Apart from that, I don’t think we lack anything, we write great content and we have great Blogging personalities here. I believe Young Indian Bloggers can change the question mark we face, they are energetic and have a passion to succeed. All the best!
Q: There are many young bloggers of 15,16 years of age and they don’t give that much time to their education, Give some advice to our young Bloggers.
Ans: Yes, that’ll be a bad time for them. They need to focus on their basic education (which is necessary) and at the same time they need to blog. They can work on their posting frequency for this. People think blogs should be updated every day, but that is not really necessary according to me. They can write 3-4 Good Quality Informative posts per week.
They can also enable Guest Blogging on their blogs to improve their posting frequency.
Q: How many blogs in your Slashsquare network, and how you manage them?
Ans: Slashsquare has two blogs active now – HBB and HostLater. We also have a Movies hub called “MoviesDrop”, but the blog is yet to launch. I had many plans to launch 2-3 blogs this year. But unfortunately I need to focus on HostLater and MoviesDrop right now. One at a time works perfect for me! Slashsquare is an Indian Blogging Network and Web Consulting Media too.
Q: There are very less women in India who are professional bloggers, how we can Increase the number and also give some advice to upcoming Women Pro Bloggers in India.
Ans: Well, yes, compared to Male Bloggers we do have less Female Bloggers. But I think it’ll be increased in a year or two. When I started HBB at 2009 I didn’t come across any female blogger in my network, but now I can see an awesome number of Bloggers. That’s an improvement.
But I think there are many Professional Female Food Bloggers in India. Many girls even maintain their personal blogs, but don’t want to make them professional.
If you (boys) are studying in the College or School, you can encourage your fellow classmates (girls) to start a blog, you can tell them the benefits. That could work. Apart from their gender benefit, female bloggers can easily succeed and make their impression on the web. All they need to do is, work smarter and become a competition for others.
Q: Blogging is a powerful Medium now, by which we can raise our voice , do you think bloggers can change India, Economically and Socially?
Ans: Yes, we can do that. Blogging is like Journalism. We can write stuffs we believe. Blogging can be used as a medium to express our views and change the society. We can spread awareness and teach people.
Q: List some of your favorite bloggers which you like from your Initial days of blogging?
Ans: There are many bloggers who helped me during my Journey. They helped me directly and indirectly. Learned many things from them. I couldn’t mention their names because the list became huge now. But I respect them a lot. Thank you for guiding me.
Q: What you think about the Future of Indian Blogging, also give some advise to those Indian bloggers who blogs only for money?
Ans: I can see Young Indian Bloggers (who are like 15 or 16 years old) passionately blogging. I think with their help we can become one of the top countries in Blogging. As long as we are passionate, creative and eager to make it big we’ll have a secure future.
And regarding people who blog for money, I don’t think anything bad, they blog for money and that’s their profession. Blogging is earning money online for them. But that is not wrong.
The thing which is wrong is, spamming the internet world with irrelevant and inaccurate information just for the sake of earning money. I hate those people, a guy writes about pregnancy stuffs and earns money through that blog. I mean, how dare he or she can write about these tips when they don’t know anything about that? Do they know what happens if a single word or phrase is wrong? They might have hired someone to write those posts, but do you think doctors and health experts will contribute posts cheaply? What happens if there are updated information for some tips in that post? Hate such people, they annoy me a lot these days.
Q: Alexa lost its reputation already, and after Recent Page Rank update everyone is thinking PR is also useless to judge the quality of a blog, So what you think Domain authority can judge better then Alexa and PR?
Ans: No comments about Alexa Rank bro. PageRank can still be trusted since it is an algorithm from ultimate search king Google, we agree or not, but we work for Google indirectly.
Domain Authority is one of the essential factors to consider. Advertisers and Blog buyers see that mostly. PageRank and DA both need quality natural backlinks. I also think Technorati Rank is quite considerable, though they are lazy in updating their algorithm, advertisers find that essential.
Q: What is the main source of your Earnings?
Ans:Every Monetization method except Google Adsense. That was a honest statement indeed. Our major income sources include Paid/Sponsored Reviews, Direct Advertisements, Link Advertisements (not the link selling kind of thing), Affiliates (very less though), and some services for medium-scale brands.
Q: Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, Hope all Indian Bloggers will work better in futurelike you.
